I got my BA degree in Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego in 1968. I loved math, but I didn't do anything more with it. Instead I started designing houses and environments. I learned drafting: Pencils, paper, compass, templates, T-square, erasers, and more erasers. In the early 1990s I was able to go back to school at San Diego State with the intention of getting an MA in Art. My area of emphasis was environmental design, and I was still working with paper, pencils, etc. I loved graduate school, and I realized that although I had almost enough credits for that MA, I wanted to keep going. So I switched to an MFA program. About that time I started working with CAD and 3-D modeling. The modeling program I was using was remarkably sophisticated for the time and I soon came to see its potential as a new creative medium. As the capabilities rapidly improved, I added complex rendering and animation to the tools I used. The works on these pages represent an exploration of that potential.
